Meet Handsome!

May 1st, after we got done with school (barely), we went to the hospital to get our little guy here.  They started me on a dose a Cervidil at 7:30 p.m.  We were expecting to be there for a long time because when I went in, I was still high and closed.  About 7:30 a.m. on May 2,  I started pushing, and after 3 contractions our handsome boy, Austin Brett Roberts, was born at 7:43 a.m.  He weighed 4 lb 14 oz and was 17 3/4" long.  

Because we were diagnosed with IUGR (baby's growth stopped), it was a little stressful right after the delivery because we didn't know how well his lungs and things would be developed.  Both of the hospitals respiratory therapists were there along with about 5 other nurses and specialists.  He came out a screaming which was so good, but then started doing a grunting noise, and he was dehydrated.  I only got a few glances of my little guy because after his initial assessment, he was taken to the nursery to get more work done.  They did tests, and he was given an IV with fluid which helped him perk right up.  About an hour and a half later, I finally got to officially meet my little guy!

 

We absolutely love having him here with us, and he is seriously such a good baby!

Some of the things that we have been doing the last week and a half are...

looking  around checking things out...

putting our hands on our face (when he was born his hand was up by his face)...

crying during baths...

sleeping a lot...

and just being so adorable all of the time!

Mom and Dad think that we'll be in newborn outfits for a little while!  I guess great things come in tiny packages!  

 

We can't get enough of this cute little fella!  We feel so blessed that he is home with us and that there were no complications!  Thank you all for your love, prayers, and support!  We couldn't do it without you!
