Christmas is in full swing. The decorations are up, music is in the air, and Snow is on the ground.
As I think about Christmas’s past (Last Christmas), it really wasn’t the best Christmas that I can remember. Brett woke up with a very sharp pain in his side. We decided to wait a while before to see if the pain got any worse. I was kind of a grump all day, and that night we ended up in the Emergency Room thinking Brett was going to have to have his appendix removed.
After 2 CT scans, blood work, and an IV, we found out that Brett didn’t have appendicitis, but had injured his abdominal muscles very badly. As you see, not the best first Christmas for Brett and I…
At this time, Hailey had come into our lives, but little did we know that this would be our first AND last Christmas with her. I feel terrible about this, and I wish I could have made that day special for her. Because of this, this year I have decided to do things in remembrance of my sweet little Hailey, and make this Christmas special for her… The only problem is that I don’t have very many ideas. This is where you, my lovely friends and family come in. If you have any ideas of ways that I could make this Christmas special for Hailey please, Please, PLEASE share! I have decided to do a post (no guarantees until school gets out) every day until Christmas with little ways that I have made this Christmas memorable, and hopefully start some traditions that our family will continue. Please and Thank You! We love you all!
Baby Hailey will always be your child. Create a stocking with little gifts and candy (I promise she won't mind if Mom and Dad eat it for her). For your Christmas meal (and other special meals) set an extra plate for her. Continue this tradition the rest of your lives so that as you raise other children, and they leave the home, they will know you have a place for them at your table. Holidays are harder without the ones we love most, but we can look forward to the resurrection and being reunited again.

When we were in graduate school and having a very little Christmas, we had a knock at the door and found a little treat and a cute baby toy caterpillar that was just right for our baby. I wasn't sure who had left it, but had my suspicions. Later I found out that they had lost a baby the would have been the same age as our baby. They were making it a family tradition to give a surprise to a family every year in memory of their son. It was so sweet, I still think about it 16 years later.
ReplyDeleteOMG! Those are such cute ideas! Curtis and I recently finished reading the Christmas Box together this holiday season. I think you would really like it and could possibly draw some ideas from the book. It was pretty short, around 85 pages, but I cried the whole last part of the story. It has made me think of you! ;)
ReplyDeleteMaybe for christmas dinner or another meal this time of year made cresent rolls and when you roll them up place a piece of paper with one thing you love or are thankful for. Then when you eat them you read them out loud :)
