If you notice, we have some unusual ornaments. Butterflies. One in particular at the top of the tree.
One of my sweet cousins sent me some poems and literature when she found out about Hailey's condition. She has lost a little Angel girl as well, and these were things that had helped her. Thanks Abbie! One of the poems was about a butterfly, and I have been obsessed ever since.
"A butterfly lights beside us like a sunbeam, and for a brief moment its glory and beauty belong to our world. But then it flies on again, and though we wish it could have stayed, we feel so lucky to have seen it."
This poem really explains in such simple, but beautiful terms of how I feel. When I saw these decorations while shopping one day, I simply could not pass them up. As we were decorating the tree, we decided to place one butterfly at the top of our tree as a symbol of our sweet little Angel. As I look at that butterfly everyday, I can't help but think how lucky we are that Hailey came into our lives, even if it was for only a brief moment.
I love that sweet poem, I love butterflies, and I love the butterfly decorations for Hailey. Everytime I see a butterfly now, I am going to think of little Hailey!! I love Christmas time too, and it is a great time to focus on our Savior and the lasting love that he has for us even in our hard times.
ReplyDeleteI have been thinking of some ideas for you to do that can make Christmas more memorable and focused around Hailey and I just can't think of anything spectacular. I love the butterflies that you found to decorate the tree. You can get a decoration every year for your tree in memory of Hailey. I don't really have any other brilliant ideas, but if I think of some I will let you know. :) Hope you guys are doing well. Good luck with finals next week... Hopefully you got your projects all done on time to hand in to your professors! :)
I love it! You probably already know this, but October 15th is national Pregnancy and Infant Loss Day and the official symbol for that is the butterfly. :) The butterflies you found for your tree are perfect to remember your sweet angel girl AND they look absolutely beautiful on your tree. I'm so glad you were able to incorporate them into your decorating! Merry Christmas!!
ReplyDeleteLove love love it.
ReplyDeleteI am glad the things I sent helped. I was hoping to talk to you more at Thanksgiving but Mark wanted to leave before we had a good chance. I second Emily's idea of reading A Christmas Box. I also recommend the Christmas Box Miracle which tells how Richard Paul Evans came about writing the Christmas Box.
